Brain Tumour Alliance Australia

Brain Tumour Alliance Australia (BTAA) is the only national brain tumour patient and caregiver organisation in Australia. It was established in late 2008 by a group of brain tumour patients and current and former caregivers. While welcoming the advice and input of specialists, BTAA seeks to represent the brain tumour community from the viewpoint of the patient, family and caregiver.

On 28 October 2010, Senator Bilyk hosted the launch of BTAA and beyondblue's fact sheet on brain tumours, depression and anxiety disorders on behalf of the Minister for Health, Hon. Nicola Roxon MP.

 

National Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect

In the last year there were over 58,000 substantiated notifications to statutory authorities of children being abused or neglected in Australia. Hundreds of children died, thousands of children were seriously injured and tens of thousands of children were physically, psychologically and emotionally damaged.

NAPCAN's primary role is to advocate on behalf of children to bring about the changes necessary to prevent abuse and neglect.

 

National Labor Women's Network

Launched in 1996, the National Labor Women's Network (NWLN) is the official national women's network in the ALP. The NWLN provides a forum to increase the number of women active in the Party, facilitates the development of skills assisting women to participate in the ALP at all levels and provides advice to women on policy issues at state and national levels and represents the ALP at international women's forums.

Senator Bilyk recently attended the ALP's National Women's Conference—held in Sydney in September 2008—as the new Tasmanian convenor of the NWLN.

 

Lord Taverners Australia - Tasmanian Branch

The objectives of Lords Taverners are:

  • To assist young people disadvantaged due to physical and/or intellectual disability, financial constraints and/or geographical isolation.
  • To take part in sport through the provision of sporting equipment and facilities or sporting opportunities.
  • To raise funds to achieve the above.
  • To conduct fund raising events which generate enjoyment, fellowship and bonhomie among members and our guests.

 

The Cunningham Dax Collection

The Cunningham Dax Collection consists of over 12,000 creative works on paper, paintings, ceramics and textiles, created by people who have experienced mental illness or psychological trauma. The Collection is dedicated to the conservation and ethical exhibition of these works, and the use of art in public mental health education.

 

The Alannah and Madeline Foundation

The Alannah and Madeline Foundation is a national charity protecting children from violence and its devastating effects.

They care for children who have experience or witnessed violence and run programs which prevent violence in the lives of children. They play an advocacy role and are a voice against childhood violence.

 

Australian Childhood Foundation

The Australian Childhood Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that works tirelessly to support children and families devastated by abuse, family violence and neglect.

 

Oakdale Services Tasmania

Oakdale Services Tasmania operates services for people with a disability in the greater Hobart area.

Their major residential facility is Oakdale Lodge, home to 38 people.

Services provided also include Independent Living units, Acquired Brain Injury accommodation and community access, A Community Living program, Youth Services and an 'Ageing in Place' program originally set up as part of a National project in June 2003.

 

Riding for the Disabled Association of Tasmania

Riding for the Disabled Association of Tasmania (RDA TAS) is an entirely voluntary, not for profit organisation whose aim is to provide horse riding and carriage driving to people of all ages with disabilities.

RDA TAS is part of a worldwide movement and is affiliated to Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia Ltd (RDAA).

 

Cerebral Palsy Tasmania

Cerebral Palsy Tasmania (CP TAS) is a statewide charitable organisation that offers support and assistance to people affected by cerebral palsy.

Established in 1963 by parents of children with CP, the organisation has grown and changed over the ensuing years to become the peak body for people with cerebral palsy in the state.

White Balloon Day

Bravehearts Inc. is Australia's leading child protection advocacy group and the nation's only charity specifically dedicated to combating child sexual assault in Australia.
